To strengthen our Reinsurance Accounting Department, we are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Accountant – Reinsurance to join our team in Rotterdam. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate booking and reporting of all accounting items related to Treaty and Facultative Reinsurance transactions. You’ll also actively contribute to process improvement initiatives across the department.

What will you do?

 You’ll play a critical role in both daily operations and continuous process enhancement. 
Your responsibilities include:

• Ensuring accurate booking and reporting of all Treaty and Facultative Reinsurance transactions.
• Executing control measures in coordination with General Accounting and Management Control.
• Initiating and overseeing the monthly/quarterly closing process for reinsurance activities.
• Managing deposits to ensure sufficient asset coverage.
• Reviewing quarterly inventories and validating provisions for doubtful receivables.
• Analyzing monthly statements and preparing consolidated inventories for accurate reporting.
• Preparing and monitoring budgets and reserves, including Loss Reserves and IBNRs.
• Supporting ORM procedures (loss database) and adjusting Risk Capital where needed.
• Maintaining accurate and timely reporting of technical and financial reinsurance accounts.
• Collaborating with the Claims Department to evaluate claims data and assess program effectiveness.
• Managing the Reinsurance Accounting Management Tool and contributing to tool/process improvements.

What do you bring?

• Approximately 10 years of experience in Accounting, Reinsurance Accounting, or Financial Reporting.
• A Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Solid knowledge of Local GAAP; familiarity with IFRS17 is a strong asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Access); SAP and SAS knowledge is a plus.
• A hands-on and proactive mindset, with the ability to work autonomously and take ownership.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in Dutch is preferred. French is a bonus.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
